Muscle Anatomy

Triceps medial head

The medial head of the triceps brachii, a robust arm muscle, is positioned on the posterior aspect of the upper arm, contributing to elbow extension.

Origin:
Arising from the posterior humerus, below the radial groove, the medial head of the triceps brachii has its origin along the upper arm.

Insertion:
The muscle inserts into the olecranon process of the ulna, forming the common tendon shared with the other heads of the triceps brachii.

Function:
The primary function of the medial head of the triceps brachii is extension at the elbow joint. It works in coordination with the other heads of the triceps brachii to straighten the arm. This muscle is particularly active during activities involving pushing and extending the elbow, contributing to strength and stability during various upper limb movements.
