Muscle Anatomy
Sartorius
The sartorius is a long, strap-like muscle that runs obliquely across the anterior thigh, contributing to the overall appearance of the quadriceps.
Origin:
Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) of the pelvis.
Insertion:
Medial surface of the tibia near the tibial tuberosity.
Function:
The sartorius flexes, abducts, and laterally rotates the hip, and flexes the knee, making it involved in both hip and knee joint movements.
